Big Way Camp
Everyone in skydiving dreams of doing BIG Ways – but may not really be prepared.
Join accomplished RW organizer, competitor and big way world record holder Sandy Grillet for this FS big way skills camp designed to teach you how to safely participate in larger formations and challenge you in a controlled environment with a relaxed atmosphere focused on getting you up to speed for that big way invite for which you’ve been hoping.
When else will you be allowed to make mistakes without getting CUT? Sandy will teach and coach you – not cut you.
This camp is set up so everyone gets to dive from a trail plane while doing formation loads, so you can see those site pictures and learn to deal with exit and traffic issues. Sandy will teach fundamentals of big way belly skydiving so you can learn how to fly to a quadrant, fly a radial, stadium approaches, sheep dogging, docking and grip discipline and how to fly a big way formation after you’ve made it in. You’ll learn how to read a formation, so you know when to take your dock and – just as important – when not to. We’ll work on safe breakoffs and track offs for large groups including tracking groups.
This two-day camp is for intermediate level to more experienced skydivers. To attend you must have the skills to safely dive down and over to a belly formation. When signing up, please indicate your experience level on belly formations of 10 people or larger. Jumpers will be grouped appropriately based on skill level and performance on the jumps, with the goal to get every participant on larger formations by the end of the camp. Who knows maybe we’ll do a couple of 40 ways.
These will be goal-oriented jumps with thorough prep, video and debrief. Please bring all your jump suits (hopefully with grippers -this is an FS camp) long sleeve t-shirts, sweatshirts and weight belts. IOW dress for success.
This a great spring warm up camp for more experienced jumpers planning to participate in large formations this season. There are opportunities for those with more experience to help lead exits, take charge of trail planes, and practice flying slots that will challenge you.
Besides the big way camp – Sandy will also be doing regular FS organizing on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday – so come on out and make some jumps with him and attend what will obviously become an everlasting boogie and gathering of “Flamingo Lovers”.
