OneBlood Blood Drive @ Skydive City
June 16, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm
A critical number of voluntary donations are required every day to meet the need for blood, and we appreciate your lifesaving efforts. Any licensed skydivers who donate a pint of blood receive a free jump ticket ($25.50 value). Share the power of giving blood and save the life of someone in need. Help spread the word about the important role blood donations hold in our community.
Blood Donor Basics:
What is Blood? Blood is made up of four main components. Red blood cells, platelets, plasma and white blood cells. Each whole blood donation has the potential to save up to three lives.
There’s more than one way to give blood. Let your blood type lead the way in targeting the best way for you to donate your powerful lifesaving gift.
Whole blood donation is what most people are familiar with. This is the traditional way of donating and allows us to draw a pint of blood containing red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma at one time.
People with O type blood and those with certain RH negative blood types are encouraged to donate whole blood.
How Often Can You Donate Whole Blood?
Every 56 days for a total of 6 donations a year.
Blood collections throughout OneBlood’s service area in Florida, Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina will be tested for the Zika virus using an investigatory donor screening test. Many potential blood donors believe that they can’t donate blood due to medical or other reasons. But whether you’ve heard or read information about donation restrictions or been turned down in the past, please do not self defer. You may be able to say “Yes I can!” and share your power through blood donation. If you have questions about any of the subjects below, please contact us for more information.
